The history of Buddhism in Australia, including Victoria, is an under-researched area. Buddhism is the second largest religion in Australia, and has a long and fascinating history dating back at least to the mid-19th Century Gold Rush period.
This website is part of a first stage of a larger research program on Buddhism in Australia. This research project, which is focused on the History of Buddhism in Victoria, has been conducted by Deakin University in partnership with the Buddhist Council of Victoria, and funded by the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
